RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech’s Jared Williamson (pictured left) and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Darcie Dick (pictured right) have been named the Great American Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to an undefeated week of conference games.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Arkansas Tech junior guard Jared Williamson has been named the GAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Wonder Boys to a perfect 3-0 week to move his team into a tie for first place in the league standings midway through the conference portion of the schedule. The Russellville, Ark. native tallied a weekly total of 50 points (16.7 ppg), 15 rebounds (5.0 rpg) and 10 assists (3.33 apg), while shooting 45.5 percent from the field (10-of-22), 50 percent from three-point range (4-of-8) and 72.2 percent on free-throws (26-of-36). He started the week with a 21-point, seven-rebound performance in a 69-57 win over Harding last Monday at home, followed by a 15-point, six-assist outing in an 82-67 win over Ouachita Baptist at home on Thursday. Williamson concluded the week by bucketing 14 points and collecting four rebounds in an 89-72 win over Southern Arkansas on the road this past Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southwestern Oklahoma State senior guard Darcie Dick has collected her third consecutive GAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week nod after recording a pair of double-doubles in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. The Cordell, Okla. native tallied a weekly total of 48 points (24 ppg) and 20 rebounds (10 rpg), while shooting 61.3 percent from the field (19-of-31), 35.3 percent from three-point range (6-of-17) and 80 percent from the free-throw line (4-of-5). Dick started the week with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 93-55 win over East Central at home last Monday. Later in the week, she added her fourth double-double of the season with 29 points and 10 rebounds in a 90-85 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State at home.
