GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (11/26/2012)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Nazarene’s Ryan Aaron and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Michelle Fisher received the Great American Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for their performances in the third week of the 2012-13 regular season.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ryan Aaron, Southern Nazarene, G, Sr., Southfield, Mich.
Aaron notched the season's first double-double of the year with a season-high 26 points and 12 rebounds in the win over No. 16 (NAIA) MidAmerica Nazarene in the championship game of the Thanksgiving Nazarene Classic. He opened the tournament by scoring 18 points on 6-for-12 shooting against Trevecca Nazarene.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Michelle Fisher, Southwestern Oklahoma State, G, Jr., Mustang, Okla.
Fisher helped the Bulldogs improve to 4-1 as they won both games at the West Texas A&M Thanksgiving Classic against two preseason top-4 teams from the Lone Star Conference. In the tournament opener, Fisher scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds against Angelo State. She exploded against the host, West Texas A&M, as she scored 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting and added three 3-point field goals.

- Nigel Jones, F, Jr., Southern Arkansas (Totaled 20 points on 10-for-16 shooting with 12 rebounds against Ecclesia)
- Andraz Kavas, F, Fr., Harding (Recorded his 1st double-double with season-highs with 18 pts, 11 rebs vs Champion Baptist)
- Chris Roussell, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Averaged 18.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG and shot 58.1 FG pct in three games)
- Jason Williams, F, Jr., East Central (Netted 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting in loss to St. Gregory’s)
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Shana Holmes, G, So., Harding (Scored career-high 23 points in hometown, San Antonio, against St, Mary’s)
- Nashia James, G, Jr., Nashia James (Averaged 13.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two Lady Tiger victories)
- Lindsay McCown, F, Sr., East Central (Collected 15 points and seven rebounds in overtime win vs St. Gregory’s)
- Jessica Weatherford, F, Sr., Arkansas Tech (Against two undefeated teams, she averaged 16.5 PPG and 6.0 RPG)
- Bailey Welch, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Welch averaged 16.5 PPG and shot 64.3 percent from the floor)
