GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (12/10/2012)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Nazarene’s Tyrone Lyons and Ouachita Baptist’s Monica Williams received the Great American Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week honors for their performances in the fifth week of the 2012-13 regular season.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tyrone Lyons, Southern Nazarene, F, Sr., Los Angeles, Calif.
Lyons averaged 22.0 points off of the bench in wins against Arkansas Fort-Smith and St. Edward's. He scored a career-high 19 points against the Heartland Conference’s preseason favorite, UAFS, before besting that mark the next night with 25 against St. Edward's. He also notched his second double-double of the year with 11 rebounds against the Hilltoppers. He shot 63 percent from the floor, converting 17-of-27 shots.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Monica Williams, Ouachita Baptist, F/C, Sr., Horn Lake, Miss.
Williams averaged 26.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game en route to victories against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. She shot 57 percent from the floor. Her week started with a 21 point, six-rebound performance in a 74-66 win against Southern Arkansas. On Saturday, she notched a career-high 31 points and 19 rebounds in an 82-65 victory against Arkansas-Monticello.

- Kori Forge, G, Sr., Arkansas-Monticello (Averaged 24 points for week; scored 28 in victory vs Henderson State)
- Nigel Jones, F, Jr., Southern Arkansas (Recorded double-doubles in wins vs Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist)
- Willie Kirkland, G, Sr., Arkansas Tech (Scored 16.5 points per game and grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game)
- Chris Roussell, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Shot 70 percent from 3, 7-for-10, and averaged 15.0 points in two wins)
