RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Courtney Moore (pictured left) and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Katie Raines (pictured right) have been named the Great American Conference Softball Players of the Week for their performances during the sixth week of the 2012 season.

GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southeastern Oklahoma State junior catcher Courtney Moore has been named the GAC Softball Player of the Week after hitting .643 with seven runs batted in a 3-1 conference series victory over Henderson State this past weekend at home. The Mesquite, Texas native went 9-for-14 at the plate with seven RBI,three runs scored, one double and one homerun. She also added two walks to her totals for a weekly .688 on-base percentage. Moore recorded at least two hits in all three of Southeastern’s wins, highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 outing in an 8-6 win over the Lady Reddies on Saturday. In that win, she smashed a two-run homerun, collected a pair of RBI-singles and reached base in her other plate appearance with a base on balls. Moore had another three-hit performance with a 3-for-4 outing in the series finale, an 8-7 win in nine innings, highlighted by a two-RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Her other two contests played included a 2-for-3, one RBI performance in a 2-0 win in the first game of the series and a 1-for-4 outing in a 6-3 loss on Sunday.

GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Southwestern Oklahoma State junior Katie Raines has been named the GAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after holding her opponents to only one run, which was unearned, in 18.1 innings of work during a 5-1 week for the Bulldogs. The El Reno, Okla. native allowed eight hits in three appearances, recording victories in 5-0 and 8-1 conference wins over Southern Arkansas this past Saturday and Sunday at home. She started the week with 4.1 innings of relief with no runs or hits allowed with three strikeouts in a 5-2 non-conference loss to Fort Hays State this past Wednesday at home. During the weekend, Raines posted consecutive complete-game victories over SAU, starting with a two-hit shutout victory on Saturday with five strikeouts and only one walk. On Sunday, Raines allowed one unearned run off six hits while striking out four and walking none in the seven-run victory for SWOSU. Raines becomes the second SWOSU pitcher of the week honoree following teammate Katrina Johnson’s selection on February 21.
