RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Lindsey Lacy (pictured left) and Audra Rhudy (pictured right) have been named the Great American Conference Softball Players of the Week for their performances during the seventh week of the 2012 season, marking the first time a single team has swept both weekly awards in softball. This award period covers all games played from March 12-18.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Southeastern Oklahoma State senior second baseman Lindsey Lacy has been named the GAC Softball Player of the Week after hitting .533 during a four-game conference sweep over Ouachita Baptist this past weekend. The Sherman, Texas native went 8-for-15 at the plate and scored four runs in 7-0, 7-0, 2-1 and 6-1 wins over OBU on Saturday and Sunday. Lacy had two games of at least two hits, including her best outing in the series finale on Sunday. She went 4-for-4 in that win, all singles, while also recording two stolen bases and crossing the plate once. She went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one stolen base in Saturday’s second 7-0 victory. For the week, Lacy was 5-for-6 on the base paths. Her other two weekly hits came in a 1-for-4 outing in the series opener and a 1-for-3 performance in the first win on Sunday. Lacy becomes the second consecutive SOSU player of the week honoree, following teammate Courtney Moore’s selection on March 13.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Southeastern Oklahoma State senior Audra Rhudy has been named the GAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after allowing only one run, which was unearned, during 14.2 innings of work in this past weekend’s four-game conference sweep of Ouachita Baptist on the road. The Ector, Texas native went 2-0 in the circle, both complete-game victories over OBU. She started her weekly campaign by holding the Lady Tigers scoreless on five hits while striking out seven and walking none on Saturday in SOSU’s 7-0 series-opening win. She followed that by striking out 11 and allowing only two hits in a complete-game, 2-1 win on Sunday. The lone OBU run scored in that outing came after an SOSU error with two outs. Following her complete-game effort on Sunday, Rhudy was called on in relief in the bottom of the seventh of the second half of the double-header, where she retired the final two batters of the contest in a 6-0 win. Rhudy also went 1-for-4 offensively during the week, highlighted by a solo homerun during the series opener on Saturday.
