OBU MEN'S TENNIS ADVANCES AT D2 FESTIVAL

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 12 ranked men's tennis team of Ouachita Baptist finished off their NCAA Round of 16 match with Bluefield State with a 5-0 victory after weather postponed a number of matches until Thursday morning. The Tigers took a 5-0 victory in the match, fueling them into a quarterfinals match which will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Ouachita's doubles matches were interrupted by weather on Wednesday evening and forced to restart on Thursday morning, although it didn't affect the Tigers, as they swept doubles play. Kenny Brasil and Ernesto Laborda were able to finish before the postponement of the match on Wednesday, capturing an 8-1 victory over Bluefield's Shikar Kapur and Pitor Kruk. Ouachita's number three doubles team of Ramon Abaitua and Marko Boskovic were the first to finish on Thursday morning, taking an 8-4 victory over Bluefield's Guatam Sreeram and Conner Pickering. Ouachita's number one doubles team of Helge Knuth and Marvin Muller were the last to finish, capturing an 8-6 victory over Bluefield's Vlad Catlan and Niklas Sparr.

Heading in to singles play, the Tigers held a solid 3-0 lead. During singles play, only two matches were finished, but it was enough to seal the victory for the Tigers. No. 35 ranked Boscovic captured a win over Bluefield's Catlan with scores of 6-1, 6-0, while Brasil took the match sealing victory for the Tigers, defeating Kruk by a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Ouachita will continue their run through the NCAA Championships this afternoon, when they face off against West Florida at 4 p.m. The match will be held at EP Sawyer State Park in Louisville. The Tigers enter the match with an overall record of 17-6, following their victory over Bluefield State, while West Florida enters the match with an overall record of 26-2 following their 5-0 sweep of Nebraska-Kearney.
