GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (11/18/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Breana Small-Peppers and East Central’s A.J. Moutry claimed the Great American Conference’s Women’s and Men’s Basketball Players of the Week honors for their performances during the second week of the 2013-14 regular season.

GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Breana Small-Peppers, Southeastern Oklahoma State, F, So., McKinney, Texas
Small-Peppers averaged 17.0 points and 11.7 rebounds as the Savage Storm went 2-1 last week. Against Texas A&M-Commerce, she scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. She added a second double-double – 10 points and 11 rebounds – against Texas-Permian Basin. She scored a career-high 23 points on 9-for-9 shooting against Midwestern State.

GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – A.J. Moutry, East Central, G, Fr., McKinney, Texas
Moutry scored a career-best 21 points in the Tigers’ 76-67 win against Dallas Baptist. He added four assists and four steals in the win. Two of the steals came on back-to-back possessions in the middle of the second half, both of which resulted in lay-ups that helped the Tigers pull away from the Patriots.

  • Michelle Fisher, G, Sr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Scored 31 pts as SWOSU broke 11-game slide vs Northeastern State)
  • Jordan Goforth, G, So., Arkansas-Monticello (Made 16-of-28 shots; averaged 19.5 points per game over two games)
  • Anna Lea Little, G, Fr., Arkansas Tech (Scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with three 3-point field goals vs Crowley’s Ridge)
  • Rebekah Knudson, G, Jr., Southern Arkansas (Scored 18 points and added four steals in SAU’s first win since Jan. 26, 2012)
  • Alycea Price, F, Sr., East Central (Tallied back-to-back double-doubles as the Lady Tigers beat St. Gregory’s and Rogers State)
 
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
  • Alre’k Brown, F, Jr., Southern Arkansas (Shot 71.4 percent from the floor; averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds)
  • Quan Conner, G, Sr., Southern Nazarene (Scored a career-high 29 points with six 3-pt FG in victory against Central Oklahoma)
  • Gary Inglett, F, Jr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Notched 19 points and 14 rebounds as SWOSU earned its first win)
  • Taylor Smaller, G, Jr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Tallied 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists vs Missouri S&T)
