RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Monticello’s Jared Harrison and Southern Arkansas’ Allie Wade claimed the Great American Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week honors for their performances during the seventh week of the 2013-14 regular season.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jared Harrison, Arkansas-Monticello, G, Sr., Slidell, La.
Harrison followed teammate Brandon Wilson in becoming the second-straight Boll Weevil to claim the GAC men’s basketball Player of the Week honor. Harrison averaged 21.5 points and 4.0 assists in wins against Philander Smith and No. 22 Angelo State. He shot 50 percent from the floor, 75.0 percent from the 3-point arc and he made 17-of-18 from the free-throw line.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Allie Wade, Southern Nazarene, G, Jr., Siloam Springs, Ark.
Wade earned SAU’s first-ever women’s basketball Player of the Week as she played the role of catalyst in a 75-73 win against Texas A&M-Kingsville. She scored a season-high 23 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Most of her damage came from beyond the arc as she knocked down four 3-point field goals. All four came in 21-6 second-half run that gave SAU a 20-point lead.
