GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/19/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Jacee Bennett and Arkansas Tech’s Siarra Gomez and earned the Great American Conference’s Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors for the third week of play, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacee Bennett, Southeastern Oklahoma State, RHP, So., Colbert, Okla.
Bennett claimed her second-straight GAC Pitcher of the Week as she factored in the decision in all six of Southeastern’s wins at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. She earned victories against No. 2 UC-San Diego, No. 6 Minnesota State-Mankato and No. 8 Augustana. She also won against Texas Woman’s and West Texas A&M, both of which had received votes in the NFCA poll. She won the NFCA Leadoff Classic Most Outstanding Pitcher award for the weekend as she struck out 24 in 24.0 innings.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Siarra Gomez, Arkansas Tech, 1B/DP, So., Fort Worth, Texas
Gomez captured the GAC Player of the Week after she tied an NCAA all-Division record by hitting a home run in five consecutive at bats at the Holiday Inn at the Falls Invitational. She hit six home runs in 13 at bats during the tournament. She scored 10 times and she drove in 12 Golden Suns. She amassed 29 total bases, equating to a 2.231 slugging percentage

- Maci-Brooke Lambert, RHP, So., Southern Nazarene (Allowed only one earned run in 18.0 IP of work at UAM 7-State Classic)
- Lacey Paulk, RHP, So., East Central (Struck out 12 in 11.0 innings and allowed only three earned runs in three appearances)
- Kate Slaughter, RHP, So., Arkansas-Monticello (Posted a 1.11 ERA in three appearances; earned a pair of victories)
