GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/25/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Harding’s Kristen Celsor and Arkansas-Monticello’s Kori Forge received the Great American Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Men’s Player of the Week award for their performances in the second-to-last week of the 2012-13 regular season.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kristen Celsor, Harding, F, Jr., Searcy, Ark.
Celsor earned the GAC Player of the Week award after shooting an incredible 82.6 percent from the floor in victories against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. She hit on 12-of-13 shots against the Muleriders in scoring 27 points. She pulled down 12 rebounds and added four steals. Against the Cotton Blossoms, she scored 18 points and hit on 4-of-5 from the 3-point arc.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kori Forge, Arkansas-Monticello, G, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.
Forge won his third GAC Player of the Week honor of the season as the he led the Boll Weevils to victories against two first-place teams, Arkansas Tech and Harding. He averaged 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds for week. Arkansas-Monticello won in Russellville for the second straight year then dominated Harding at home. He scored 27 points and hit six 3-pointers against the Bisons. He needs seven points to become the league’s first 1,000-point scorer.

- Michelle Fisher, G, Jr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Averaged 21.0 points and shot 47.1 percent from the 3-point arc)
- Jordan Goforth, G, Fr., Arkansas-Monticello (Shot 56.5 percent from the floor in averaging 15.0 points for the week)
- Ashley Robison, F, Jr., East Central (Amassed 16 points and nine rebounds against Southern Nazarene)
- Roselis Silva, G, Sr., Arkansas Tech (Collected 15 more steals to break her own Arkansas Tech and GAC single-season record)
- Destiny Smith, F, Sr., Henderson State (Averaged 17.0 points and 12.5 rebounds; shot 76.9 percent from the floor)
- Oumoul Thiam, G, Sr., Southern Nazarene (Set GAC single-season scoring mark; became first in GAC to score 500 pts in a yr)
- Bailey Welch, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Scored 24 points and grabbed four rebounds vs Southern Nazarene)
- Monica Williams, F/C, Sr., Ouachita Baptist (Nearly averaged a double-double - 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per)
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
- Chris Davis, G, Sr., Southern Arkansas (Avaeraged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in two games)
- Chris Roussell, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Totaled 11 points and seven rebounds in win vs Southern Nazarene)
- Jared Williamson, G, Sr., Arkansas Tech (Averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds; scored 14 points in first 10 minutes vs SAU)
