GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/4/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas’ Duke Reed and Southern Nazarene’s Oumoul Thiam received the Great American Conference’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week honors for their performances in the 13th week of the 2012-13 regular season.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Duke Reed, Southern Arkansas, F, Jr., Houston, Texas
Reed claimed the Player of the Week honor after he averaged 15.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals in wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. He hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 10 seconds left against Northwestern Oklahoma to give SAU their second straight win.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Oumoul Thiam, Southern Nazarene, G, Sr., St. Louis, Senegal
Thiam shot 50.0 percent from the field to score two wins over teams ahead of SNU in the GAC standings. She missed just one free throw the entire week on 16 attempts. She averaged 20.0 points on 50 percent shooting (11-for-22) and added 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Over the past eight games she has shot 51-for-62 from the charity stripe.

- Chris Roussell, G, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games)
- Brandon Sims, G/F, Jr., Arkansas-Monticello (Notched consecutive scoring highs vs NWOSU, 19 pts, then SWOSU, 23 pts)
- Zach Roddenberry, F, Sr., Harding (Led Bisons to school-record 10th straight win with 19 points at Southern Nazarene)

- Kristen Celsor, F, Jr., Harding (Notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds at Southern Nazarene)
- Michelle Fisher, G, Jr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Helped SWOSU extend win streak to season-best six with 23.5 PPG)
- Jordan Goforth, G, Fr., Arkansas-Monticello (Established career-high for scoring in back-to-back games; averaged 23.5 PPG)
- Cheree Kiser, G, So., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Made 61.5 percent from the field and averaged 19.5 PPG and 5.5 RPG)
- Tori Nichols, C, Fr., Southern Arkansas (Extended consecutive double-double streak to four; averaged 16.5 PPG and 13.0 RPG)
