GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (3/26/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech’s Whitney Robinson and Rachel Keeton swept the Great American Conference’s Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the eighth week of play, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Whitney Robinson, Arkansas Tech, CF, So., Choctaw, Okla.
Robinson went 10-for-12 at the plate with two walks during the Golden Suns’ four-game series with Southwestern Oklahoma State. She collected nine singles and a double to post an .857 on base percentage for the four games. In all four games, she recorded multiple-hit efforts and twice she posted a three-hit game.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Rachel Keeton, Arkansas Tech, RHP, Sr., Florence, Ala.
Keeton pitched in just one game but she held Southwestern Oklahoma scoreless in a 1-0 victory in the series finale. She threw a complete game and allowed just six hits and she issued only one walk. Keeton recorded three strikeouts as she improved to 4-1.
NOTABLE NOMINEES
- Kelci Garza, 2B, Jr., Southern Arkansas (Hit .500 with two home runs and five RBI against ECU; slugged .929 and stole a base)
- Ali Manship, Util/RHP, Sr., East Central (Went 6-for-11 against SAU with four RBI; threw two complete games as a pitcher)
- Courtney Moore, C, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Reached base five times in six plate appearances against SNU)
NOTABLE PITCHING NOMINEES
- Hanna Gil, RHP, So., Southern Arkansas (Threw two complete games against East Central)
- Mindy McElroy, RHP, Jr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Improved to 11-2 after throwing 6.2 scoreless innings vs SNU)
- Brianna Nunley, RHP, So., East Central (Struck out 11 in 7.1 innings of relief against Southern Arkansas)
