RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – East Central’s Gina Mengwasser and Arkansas-Monticello’s Katie Slaughter claimed the Great American Conference’s Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the 11th week of play, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Gina Mengwasser, East Central, C, Jr., Edmond, Okla.
Mengwasser claimed her second GAC Player of the Week honor over the past three weeks after she hit .600 during a 5-1 week against Oklahoma Panhandle State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. She slugged .933 for the week as she hit a home run and two doubles during the week. She scored the game-winning run in the series opener against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
  
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Katie Slaughter, Arkansas-Monticello, RHP, So., Austin, Texas
Slaughter won the GAC Pitcher of the Week award after she dominated the Southern Arkansas offense in earning a pair of complete-game victories. In the second game on Friday, she held the Lady Muleriders to just one run on four hits over 6.0 innings of work. She flirted with a no-hitter in the series finale as she carried one into the sixth inning. She finished with a one-hit shutout.
