BENTONVILLE, Ark. – For the second straight year, Ouachita Baptist and East Central will meet for the Great American Conference Men’s Tennis Championship title as each won in the semifinals Friday at the Memorial Park Tennis Complex.

Top seed and defending champion Ouachita Baptist (12-7) scored a 5-2 victory against Harding (11-7). The Tigers won two of the three doubles points and three of the four completed singles matches. Their lone singles loss came at the number one position where GAC Player of the Year Marko Boskovic fell to the 2012 GAC Player of the Year, Kittibodee Singil, 6-2, 6-4.

The Tigers scored doubles wins at number one where Boskovic and Vitor Oliveria beat Singil and Jon Mark Rowden, 8-5 and at number two when Helge Knuth and Marvin Muller defeated Caleb McReynolds and Matheus Mosquera-Carrascosa, 8-1.

Their singles wins came at number two where Knuth rallied to beat Rowden, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2; Muller bested Ford at number three in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 win and Teodor Anghel scored a 6-0, 6-4 win against McReynolds at the number five position.

Like OBU, East Central (7-9) won two of the three doubles points against Southeastern Oklahoma State (11-10) then lost at the top singles spot before winning three of the final five singles points to return to the title match.

ECU’s doubles teams of Victor Blasco and Julian Caminos earning an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.  Max DeJuan and Marc Fillat won for the ninth time in their last 11 matches by claiming an 8-3 victory at the number three slot.

DeJuan, Blasco and Caminos earned singles victories to clinch the match for the East Central.

The two Tigers will vie for the GAC Championship at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
