GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (4/23/2013)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Laramie Beal and Ouachita Baptist’s Abbi Frakes claimed the Great American Conference’s Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the final week of play, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Laramie Beal, Southeastern Oklahoma State, OF, Fr., Coalgate, Okla.
Beal picked up her first GAC Player of the Week award as she helped the Savage Storm clinch the GAC regular-season crown and reach the 40-win plateau for the second-straight year. In eight at bats, she collected five hits, including a pair of home runs. With a pair of walks, she registered a .700 on-base percentage and she totaled a 1.375 slugging percentage during the series.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Abbi Frakes, Ouachita Baptist, RHP, Jr., Plano, Texas
Frakes earned the Tigers’ first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season as she put together a spectacular weekend. She picked up three wins and 24 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of work against Southern Arkansas. She allowed only seven hits and she did not walk or hit a batter during the series. In her second start of the series, she threw a 10-inning shutout. She opened with 5.2 innings of perfect ball before allowing her first base runner.

- Lauren Reeves, IF/OF, Fr., East Central (Recorded three multi-hit games in series against Arkansas Tech)
- Ashley Keen, C, Jr., Arkansas Tech (Hit game-winning home run in series opener vs ECU; went 9-for-12 in the series)
NOTABLE PITCHING NOMINEES
- Taylor Clifton, RHP, So., Southern Arkansas (Went 2-1 with a 1.19 ERA over 17.2 innings of work; opponents in .203)
- Maci-Brooke Lambert, RHP, So., Southern Nazarene (Allowed only four runs in 18.0 IP in going 2-0 against HSU)
- Juilianne Martinez, RHP, Jr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Did not allow an earned run in 14.0 IP; went 2-0 against UAM)
- Mindy McElroy, RHP, Jr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Improved to 18-2 after earning three wins vs NWOSU)
- Brianna Nunley, RHP, So., East Central (Went 2-0 against Arkansas Tech and threw her first shutout of the season)
- Randa Perry, LHP, SR., Arkansas-Monticello (Recorded 14 strikeouts in 14.0 IP; 2-0 with two complete games vs SWOSU)
