RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech’s Whitney Robinson and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Jacee Bennett claimed the Great American Conference’s Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the 10th week of play, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Whitney Robinson, Arkansas Tech, CF, So., Choctaw, Okla.
Robinson earned her second GAC Player of the Week award over the last three weeks after she led the Golden Suns to a 3-1 weekend against Arkansas-Monticello, the league’s preseason favorite. She hit .615 over the four games and she drove in six runs. For the series, she slugged .923 as she added a home run and a double as part of her eight-hit series.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacee Bennett, Southeastern Oklahoma State, RHP, So., Colbert, Okla.
Bennett claimed her fourth GAC Pitcher of the Week honor of 2013 as she went 2-0 in the circle as part of the Savage Storm’s weekend sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State. In 16.0 innings of work, she allowed only three earned runs while she struck out 25 against only four walks. Her 18 wins and 143 strikeouts lead the GAC

- Sarah Higginbotham, C, So., Southern Arkansas (Hit safely in all four games vs SNU; hit .467 with a home run and four RBI)
- Chelsea Patterson, 2B, So., East Central (Tallied three multi-hit games over the weekend and hit .615 vs Henderson State)
NOTABLE PITCHING NOMINEES
- Hanna Gil, RHP, So., Southern Arkansas (In 21.1 innings vs SNU, limited the Crimson Storm to a .210 average and went 2-1)
- Victoria Huie, RHP, So., Arkansas Tech (Recorded two complete games and a shutout vs UAM; allowed one run in 13.0 IP)
- Allora Miller, RHP, Jr., Northwestern Oklahoma State (Pitched back-to-back complete games against Ouachita Baptist)
- Lacey Paulk, RHP, Fr., East Central (Went 2-0 with a complete game vs Henderson State; allowed two earned runs in 11.0 IP)
