RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Sarina Sayama and Ouachita Baptist’s Micah Delph won the Great American Conference’s Women’s and Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards for their performances during the 11th week of the 2013-14 regular season.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sarina Sayama, Southwestern Oklahoma State, G, Sr., Hanford, Calif.
Sayama helped the Lady Bulldogs close out the Rankin Williams Fieldhouse with wins against Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist. She scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 90-82 victory against the Lady Reddies on Thursday. On Saturday, she scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting. For the week, she shot 59.3 percent from the floor.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Micah Delph, Ouachita Baptist, G, Jr., Conway, Ark.
Delph tied the OBU single-game record and set the GAC single-game mark with 10 3-point field goals in the Tigers’ 87-81 win at Northwestern Oklahoma State. He scored 15 straight points during a 3:26 stretch of the second half. He went 7-of-9 from the arc in the second half. He followed up with a 24-point effort against SWOSU. For the week, he went 13-for-21 on 3’s.
