RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Henderson State’s Aungelique Sledge and Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Kamera Bozeman shared the Great American Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor while Harding’s Hayden Johnson earned the men’s award for their performances during the ninth week of the 2013-14 regular season.
GAC CO-WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kamera Bozeman, Northwestern Oklahoma State, C, Fr., Sherill, Ark.
Kamera Bozeman led the Lady Rangers to their first victory of the year, a 70-65 win against reigning GAC champion Arkansas Tech. She recorded 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting and added four rebounds. Against No. 12 Harding, she added 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting. She grabbed five rebounds against the Lady Bisons.
GAC CO-WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Aungelique Sledge, Henderson State, G, Jr., West Helena, Ark.
Sledge scored career-high 36 points and tied an HSU record with seven made 3-point field goals. She went a perfect 7-for-7 from the 3-point arc. The 36 points represented the second-highest single-game total in the three-year history of the GAC. She totaled 24 of her points in the first half. She added 12 rebounds and four steals in the victory.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hayden Johnson, Harding, F, Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.
Johnson led Harding in scoring against both Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. He averaged 24.5 points, shot 60.9 percent from the floor and went 5-for-9 on 3-point tries. Johnson has led the Bisons in scoring in all four GAC games this year. He led Harding to its first two-game Oklahoma road sweep in the Bisons' three seasons in the GAC.
