SOUTHEASTERN SWEEPS SAU TO EARN SEMIFINAL BID

 HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Southeastern Oklahoma State, the third seed, picked up its first-ever Great American Conference Volleyball Championships victory by eliminating sixth-seeded Southern Arkansas in Thursday's first quarterfinal contest from the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.

Megan Kunkel, a Second-Team All-GAC selection led the way the Savage Storm (18-13) as she recorded a match-high 14 kills and hit. 379. She added 18 digs for her GAC-leading 19th double-double. Emily Gentle, a First-Team pick, added 11 kills and hit .333. As a the team, the Savage Storm out hit the Lady Muleriders (14-18), .292 to .054.

For the Lady Muleriders, GAC Newcomer of the Year Taylor Reaume dished out 19 assists and added seven digs. Amanda Monge, a First-Team selection, led SAU with seven kills and a .240 attack percentage.

The Savage Storm will face the winner of Southern Nazarene and Arkansas-Monticello in Friday's opening semifinal match, set for 3:30 p.m. The GAC Sports Network will carry the match at GACSportsNetwork.com. During the regular season, Southeastern split with the Crimson Storm and beat UAM on the road in five sets.
