GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (12/22/14)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the sixth week of the 2014-15 basketball season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Emily Williams captured the women’s award and Harding’s Jacob Gibson claimed the men’s honor.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emily Williams, Southeastern Oklahoma State, G, Sr., Martin’s Mill, Texas
Williams, the GAC’s fourth-leading scorer, averaged 27.5 points in two contests last week. Against Cameron, she tallied the second-highest scoring total in the GAC this season, 34 points, on 13-of-22 shooting. She added five rebounds and six assists. In a 10-point win against Oklahoma Wesleyan, she scored 21 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out four assists.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Gibson, Harding, F, Jr., Jonesboro, Arkansas
Gibson recorded his first career double-double as he notched 23 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in a record-setting 92-72 win against Northwestern Oklahoma State. He made six 3-pointers - the third time in his career he made six or more 3-pointers in a game. Harding made 21 3-pointers in the game to set both a school and GAC single-game record.

  • Rosa Bryant, Jr., F, Southern Arkansas (Averaged 16.0 points in two games; scored 20 points against No. 1 Emporia State)
  • Kori Bullard, Fr., F, Ouachita Baptist (Scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Northwestern Oklahoma State)
  • Jordan Goforth, Jr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Totaled 22 points and 12 rebounds and went 8-of-14 FG vs Philander Smith)
  • Montana Lewis, Sr., G, Harding (Registered 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals vs Northwestern Oklahoma State)
  • Dilan Webster, Sr., F, East Central (Tallied her first double-double of the season – 16 points, 10 rebounds – vs St. Gregory’s)

  • Alre’k Brown, Sr., F, Southern Arkansas (Averaged 15.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks while shooting 65 percent)
  • Colt Fason, Sr., F, Ouachita Baptist (Recorded his GAC-leading fourth double-double, 21 points and 13 rebounds, vs NWOSU)
  • Henry Pwono, Sr., F, East Central (Averaged 13.7 points and 10.3 rebounds; shot 62.5 percent in leading ECU to three wins)
  • T’aries Taylor, Jr., G, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Shot 50 percent from the floor in two games; averaged 12.5 PPG)
