RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Shelby Anderson and East Central’s Brianna Nunley claimed the Great American Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the second week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Shelby Anderson, Northwestern Oklahoma State, P/DP, Jr., Mountain Home, Ark.
Anderson earned MVP honors at the TexAnn Softball Invitational after she led the Rangers to a 3-1 mark over the weekend. She hit .429 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored. She registered a .929 slugging percentage during the four-game tournament. In the circle, she threw 14.1 innings, recording a win and a 0.49 ERA.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Brianna Nunley, East Central, RHP, Jr., Moore, Okla.
Nunley earned two wins against No. 17 Angelo State at the Rambelles’ George McCorkle Classic. On Saturday, she recorded her third career shutout as she held Angelo State to just five hits. On Sunday, she entered the game with the score tied at four and threw two scoreless innings as the Lady Tigers rallied for a win.
