 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – East Central’s Leah Tigert and Harding’s Amber Rollins captured the Great American Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the fourth week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Leah Tigert, East Central, INF/OF, So., Hennepin, Okla.
Tigert notched a pair of four-hit games in the Lady Tigers’ four-game series against Henderson State. In helping ECU win three of the four games, she hit .688 with a 1.125 slugging percentage. She collected a home run, a triple and two doubles. She scored three runs and drove in five runs. During her current six-game hitting streak, she has recorded five multiple-hit games.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Amber Rollins, Harding, RHP, Jr., Searcy, Ark.
Rollins earned the program’s first GAC Pitcher of the Week honor after she went 2-0 with a pair of complete games against Southern Nazarene. She struck out a season high 11 in the Lady Bisons’ 4-2 win on Friday. She came back on Saturday and struck out three in a 5-3 win. She did not issue a walk over 14.0 innings of work.

  • Laramie Beal, OF, So., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Homered twice and hit .583 in series vs Ouachita Baptist)
  • Brooke Goad, OF, Fr., Southern Arkansas (Posted a .733 on-base percentage against Northwestern Oklahoma State)
  • Kailey Madden, C/Ut, So., Ouachita Baptist (Raised her batting average 79 points to .359 by going 7-for-14 in five games)
  • Adrienne Martinez, 1B, Jr., Southwestern Oklahoma State (Recorded a multi-hit game in all four contests against UAM)
  • Kali Piha, LF, So., Arkansas-Monticello (Drove in seven and scored five runs as UAM took three of four from SWOSU)
  • Jessika Sandoval, SS, Jr., Northwestern Oklahoma State (Hit .462 and scored five runs against Southern Arkansas)
 
NOTABLE PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES                                                                  
  • Shelby Anderson, RHP, Jr., Northwestern Oklahoma State (Earned two wins an a save vs SAU; posted a 0.93 ERA in the series)
  • Sydnee Clark, RHP, Fr., Arkansas Tech (Threw a two-hit complete-game victory against Pittsburg State)
  • Abbi Frakes, RHP, Sr., Ouachita Baptist (Went 2-1 with two complete games and a shutout vs Southeastern Oklahoma State)
  • Mindy McElroy, RHP, Sr., Southeastern Oklahoma State (Earned two victories vs OBU; allowed four runs in 14.0 innings)
  • Shelby Miller RHP, Fr., Southern Arkansas (Appeared in all four games vs NWOSU; pitched 20.0 innings and recorded a save)
  • Lacey Paulk, RHP, So., East Central (Picked up two wins and a complete game against Henderson State)
