RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Emily Williams and Arkansas-Monticello’s Brandon Wilson earned the Great American Conference’s Women’s and Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards for their performances during the 13th week of the 2013-14 regular season.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emily Williams, Southeastern Oklahoma State, G, Jr., Martin’s Mill, Texas
Williams extended her streak of 20-point performances to three as she scored 29 points at Ouachita Baptist and 26 points in a road win against Henderson State. On Thursday, she made 10-of-16 shots with three 3-pointers. Two days later, she went 8-of-12 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds. She made 7-of-10 3-point attempts over the two games.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brandon Wilson, Arkansas-Monticello, F, Sr., Rayville, La.
Wilson became the first men’s basketball player in the GAC this season to earn a second Player of the Week award. He averaged 17.0 points on 63.2 percent shooting. He added 9.5 rebounds per game in wins against Northwestern Oklahoma State and GAC-leading Southwestern Oklahoma State. He totaled 26 points and 11 rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting vs SWOSU.
