RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – East Central’s Autumn Suydam and Harding’s Amber Rollins picked up the Great American Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the eighth week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Autumn Suydam, East Central, OF, So., Southlake, Texas
Suydam helped the Lady Tigers take three of four from Southern Nazarene. She collected a pair of three-hit games on Friday. In the opener, she notched a pair of doubles and two RBI. On Saturday, she stole three bases. For the series, she hit .538 with three doubles and four stolen bases. She scored five runs and drove in four runs.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Amber Rollins, Harding, RHP, Jr., Searcy, Ark.
Rollins, the GAC’s leader in strikeouts, extended her lead in that category as she recorded 26 strikeouts in only 15.0 innings of work against UAM. She set the GAC single-game record with 14 strikeouts in the series opener. She recorded her first save in Friday’s second game. In Saturday’s first contest, she fanned nine and recorded her second complete game of the series.
