RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Jessica Simmons and Arkansas Tech’s Sydnee Clark received the Great American Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Weeks honor for the 12th week of the 2014 season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jessica Simmons, Southeastern Oklahoma State, 2B, So., Bethel, Okla.
Simmons recorded seven hits in 10 at bats in leading the Savage Storm three wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Combined with three walks, Simmons put up a .769 on-base percentage from the leadoff position. She successfully stole six bases without being caught once. She scored at least one run in all four games and totaled seven runs scored in the series.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Sydnee Clark, Arkansas Tech, RHP, Fr., Redfield, Ark.
Clark picked up a pair of complete-game victories against Henderson State to greatly hinder the Lady Reddies shot at the regular-season title. In Friday’s series opener, she struck out 10 in a 5-2 nine-inning victory. She came back for the finale and tossed a three-hit shutout. She held the Reddies to a .169 batting average over the two games.
