Last season, in Durant, the Reddies needed to rally in the fourth quarter to defeat the Savage Storm, 44-35. Kevin Rodgers threw for 384 yards, 187 went to Darius Davis. Kaymon Farmer and Anthony Foster combined for 17 catches for 209 and two touchdowns in the loss. The Reddies enter off the program’s first road win against a Division I - FCS opponent, a 27-10 decision at Nicholls. Both contests in Monticello resulted in games decided by a field goal or less. In 2012, Northwestern Oklahoma State closed its year with its third straight win, a 38-35 decision that saw the Rangers score 17 fourth-quarter points. Last year, All-American kicker Jamie McGee converted three field goals, including the deciding 43-yard kick in the fourth quarter. UAM’s Hunter Leppert made his return after missing all of 2013 with this third knee injury. Both sets of Tigers received votes in Monday’s AFCA Top 25 poll. Ouachita Baptist, playing its second straight home game, earned a 28-7 win against Southern Nazarene. Kiehl Frazier made his OBU debut by completing 19-of 30 passes for 209 yards and two TDs. East Central staged its second-straight fourth-quarter rally to beat Arkansas-Monticello, 47-40. Spencer Bond accounted for all six touchdowns, two passing and four rushing, to earn GAC Offensive Player of the Week. The Tigers last started 3-0 in 1983. In last season’s first meeting, the Wonder Boys racked up 277 rushing yards en route to a 49-7 victory. Through the opening two games, the Wonder Boys have held opponents to convert on only 2-of-7 red zone attempts. ATU kicker Randy Velazquez leads the conference with five field goals and an 83.3 percentage. The game features the league’s top two tacklers - Arkansas Tech’s Logan Genz, 26; and Southern Nazarene’s Matthew Gregg, 23. SNU’s freshman running back, Lorenzo Alexander, has rushed for at least 70 yards in each of his first two games. Southern Arkansas has won all three meetings with Southwestern Oklahoma State with a second-half comeback. Comebacks also played a role in each team’s week two contest. The Bulldogs trailed Arkansas Tech, 23-7, going into fourth quarter. They converted an onside kick and Steven Townsley returned an interception for the winning score. Against ECU, Southern Arkansas jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead, but allowed points on six of eight drives and lost 47-40.
