RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the 11th week of the 2014-15 basketball season. Harding’s Arielle Saunders kept the Lady Bisons in first place to claim the women’s award and East Central’s Braxton Reeves lit up two opponents from the 3-point arc to earn the men’s honor.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Arielle Saunders, Harding, F, Sr., Valley Springs, Arkansas
Saunders earned her third GAC Player of the Week honor of the season as kept the Lady Bisons in first place. In a showdown with No. 12 Arkansas Tech, she scored a career-high 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting and she pulled down 14 rebounds. Against Arkansas-Monticello, she scored 20 points, grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds and blocked four shots.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Braxton Reeves, East Central, F, So., Fort Worth, Texas
Reeves helped the Tigers move into a first-place tie as he averaged 20.5 points in wins against Southeastern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. Against the Savage Storm, he scored 19 points and hit five 3-point field goals. Against the Rangers, he scored 22 points with five more 3-point field goals. He added three steals.
