GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (11/30/15)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the third week of the 2015-16 season. Arkansas-Monticello’s Jordan Goforth won the women’s honor and Southern Nazarene’s CJ Rodriguez captured the men’s award.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jordan Goforth, Arkansas-Monticello, F, Sr., Plano, Texas
Goforth scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win against previously unbeaten Angelo State. She became the first Blossom to score at least 35 in a game since 2001. Earlier in the week, she moved to No. 10 on UAM's all-time scoring chart and increased her total to 1,339 career points. For the week, she hit all 13 free throws.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CJ Rodriguez, Southern Nazarene, G, Sr., Killeen, Texas
Rodriguez netted a career-high 33 points against Oklahoma Christian, the fourth-best single game tally in school history. He connected on seven 3-pointers, tied for the second most in SNU single-game history. He followed up with 19 points and five more 3-pointers in a win against Central Oklahoma. For the week he went 12-for-18 on 3-point tries and averaged 26.0 PPG.
 
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Fatima Adams, Sr., F, Arkansas Tech (Hit 15-of-19 shots and scored 33 points vs North Alabama; averaged 11.5 rebounds)
- Abby Boyd, Jr., G, Southern Nazarene (Scored 21 points with five assists and four rebounds vs Midwestern State)
- Dulincia Keener, Sr., F, Henderson State (Recorded a double-double vs UAFS - 17 points and 16 rebounds)
- Olivia Potter, Jr., G, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Scored 23 points and went 7-of-12 from 3-point range in win vs Bacone)
 
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
- Nathan Jackson, Jr., G, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Averaged double-double vs Dallas Christian & No. 16 Central Missouri)
- Markeise Champion, Jr., G, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Hit 5 3-pointers, including one in the final minute in win vs UCO)
- Jaron Davis, Sr., G, Southern Arkansas (Delivered a double-double with 20 points and 13 assists in a win vs Williams Baptist)
- Nick Wayman, Sr., F, Arkansas Tech (Scored 13 points, with a clutch 3-pointer; grabbed eight boards vs Missouri Southern)
