PHOTO GALLERY || ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Oklahoma Baptist's Vicente Castillo, the Great American Conference Player of the Year, scored both goals in leading the Bison past Harding in the second GAC Men's Soccer Championship semifinal contest on Friday from Wesley & Debbie Kluck Field on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University.
Castillo netted the opening goal of the contest, his 11th of the season, in the 27th minute when he scored on a breakaway after a pass from Alec Young. His goal stood as the lone tally of the first staff.
Harding's First-Team All-GAC forward Jackson Buchanan leveled the match with his seventh goal of the season eight minutes into the second half. The seven goals tied him with Barry Foster for the team lead.
Castillo netted the game winner, his third-such goal, in the 70th minute. Luis Romero delivered a pass from the right side to Castillo and he beat Harding goalkeeper Thomas Shults from inside the box.
Castillo finished with four of Oklahoma Baptist's six shots on goal. Harding (4-12-2) totaled 18 shots, but only four on goal. Colin Spencer started and played the first half for the Bison (6-12) and recorded a pair of saves. Truman Berghall came off the bench and made one save and earned the win.
Oklahoma Baptist will face Ouachita, the regular-season champions, at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the inaugural title clash. During the regular season, the two schools split its two matchups. Both teams won on the road as the Bison won 2-1 in Arkadelphia on September 26 and the Tigers came back with a 3-2 overtime win in Shawnee on October 17. The GAC Sports Network will stream the match.
