GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (12/14/15)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the fifth week of the 2015-16 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Hailey Tucker won the women’s award while Harding’s Will Francis earned the men’s accolade.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hailey Tucker, Southwestern Oklahoma State, G, Fr., Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Tucker scored a career-high 24 points by knocking down 8-of-17 3-point attempts as Southwestern Oklahoma State defeated Cameron, 83-77. Her eight 3-pointers came within one of the school record. She also totaled five rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Will Francis, Harding, G, Jr., Searcy, Arkansas
Francis set a career high with 35 points in Monday’s game against Texas A&M-Commerce and also established a career high with 11 made field goals. He went 7-for-11 from the 3-point arc. He added 17 points and a season-high eight rebounds in Harding’s second game against Commerce. In the two games, he made 17-of-27 shots, including 11-of-18 from the 3-point arc.
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Halley Hill, Fr., F, Ouachita (Scored a career-high 16 points in just 19 minutes in 35-point win against Central Baptist)
- Kaylie Baxter, Sr., F, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Collected 24 points, seven rebounds and four steals against St. Gregory’s)
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
- Lakee Westbrook, Jr., G, Ouachita (Recorded his fifth 20-point game this season with 24 against Texas A&M-Commerce)
- Chandler Rickey, So., F, Oklahoma Baptist (Totaled nine points, 16 rebounds and 10 blocks vs Manhattan College)
