GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (12/7/15)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the fourth week of the 2015-16 season. East Central’s Stirling Thomas claimed the men’s honor and Henderson State’s Dulincia Keener earned the women’s accolade.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Stirling Thomas, East Central, G, Sr., Elgin, Oklahoma
Thomas picked up his second GAC Player of the Week award of the season as he averaged 30.0 points per game in wins against Henderson State and Ouachita. He made 12-of-18 shots with four 3-pointers vs the Reddies and followed up with 27 points against the Tigers, last season’s GAC regular-season champion.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dulincia Keener, Henderson State, F, Sr., Texarkana, Arkansas
Keener scored a career-high 32 points against Southeastern Oklahoma and grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds against the Savage Storm. She opened the week by scoring 22 points on 7-of-10 shooting against East Central.  She helped lead the Reddies to a 4-0 start in conference play for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

- Thomas Alexander, Jr., G, Arkansas Tech (Averaged 19.5 PPG in wins against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene)
- Alvin Braddock, Sr., F, Southern Arkansas (Averaged 12 points and 9.5 rebounds and made 11-of-16 from the field)
- Andre Brown, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Scored 17 points with 15 rebounds vs SWOSU; added 10 points in win vs NWOSU)
- Martell Collins, Sr., F, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Averaged team-leading 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two road wins)
- Jacob Gibson, Sr., F, Harding (Scored 23 vs Oklahoma Baptist; made five 3-pt FG, had only four 3-pt FG in first six games)
- Kevin Kozan, Jr., G, Henderson State (Tallied 20-point games against both East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State)
 
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Fatima Adams, Sr., F, Arkansas Tech (Shot 57.1 percent while averaging 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two victories)
- Rosa Bryant, Sr., F, Southern Arkansas (Scored career-high 40 points vs SWOSU; collected two double-doubles)
- Janae Coffee, Sr., C, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Set the GAC and SWOSU DII-era single-game rebound record - 27 vs SAU)
- Jordan Goforth, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Notched two double-doubles; needed two assists for a triple-double vs NWOSU)
- Sydney Layrock, So., F, Harding (Totaled 23 points and 11 rebounds vs Oklahoma Baptist; averaged 17.5 PPG and 8.0 RPG)
- Whitney Stotler, Jr., F, East Central (Averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals vs HSU and Ouachita)
