GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/23/15)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the penultimate week of the 2014-15 basketball regular season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Emily Williams garnered the women’s award and Ouachita Baptist’s Tirrell Brown earned the men’s award.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emily Williams, Southeastern Oklahoma State, G, Sr., Martin’s Mill, Texas
Williams captured her fourth Player of the Week award of the season as she helped the Savage Storm pick up a pair of wins. Against Ouachita Baptist, she went 6-of-8 from the floor, scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. In an 80-68 win against No. 24 Arkansas Tech, she scored 17 points, made 7-for-10 shots (3-of-4 from the 3-point arc) and handed out seven assists.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tirrell Brown, Ouachita Baptist, F, Jr., Jacksonville, Arkansas
Brown picked up his second Player of the Week award of the month as he carried the Tigers to an outright GAC regular-season championship. On Thursday, against Southeastern Oklahoma State, he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. On Saturday, he hit 11-of-14 shots in totaling 28 points in the overtime win against Southern Nazarene. He added 10 rebounds.

  • Brandon Lucas, Sr., G/F, East Central (Connected on 12-of-20 FGs; scored season-high 20 points in win against Harding)
  • Adrian Motley, So., G, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Averaged 13.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in two victories)
  • Clarence Willard, Sr., G, Arkansas Tech (Registered the GAC’s first triple-double this season and hit game-winning 3-point FG)
