RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the opening week of the 2015 softball season. Harding’s Marley Edwards and Amber Rollins swept the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Marley Edwards, Harding, INF, So., Jeffersonville, Indiana
Edwards led an explosive offensive attack in Harding’s season-opening doubleheader against Christian Brothers. She went 6-for-7 with a double, a triple, five RBI and five runs scored. She posted a 1.286 slugging percentage. As a team, the Lady Bisons hit .510 in winning by scores of 9-1 and 18-8.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Amber Rollins, Harding, RHP, Sr., Searcy, Arkansas
Rollins, a 2014 All-GAC pitcher, opened her 2015 campaign by striking out five in six innings in earning a victory against Christian Brothers in the season opener. She allowed only two hits, a walk and an unearned run in the 9-1 victory. In three career appearances against Christian Brothers, she owns a 2-1 record with 13 strikeouts and a 0.45 ERA over 15.2 innings.
