RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the 13th week of the 2014-15 basketball season. Arkansas-Monticello’s Nikki Mullen and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Emily Williams shared the women’s award and Southern Nazarene’s Francisco Hukill claimed the men’s honor.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nikki Mullen, Arkansas-Monticello, G, Jr., Green Forest, Arkansas
Mullen turned in a pair of red-hot shooting performances in averaging 18.5 points per game against Southern Nazarene and East Central. On Thursday, she went 4-for-5 from the 3-point arc in a 12-point win against the Crimson Storm. On Saturday, she scored a career-high 25 points on 5-of-7 shooting and she hit all 12 of her free throws. She shot 75.0 percent for the week.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Emily Williams, Southeastern Oklahoma State, G, Sr., Martin’s Mill, Texas
Williams recorded her GAC-leading third 30-point game of the season as she helped the Savage Storm beat Henderson State, 96-83, in the highest scoring GAC game this season. She scored 33 points on 11-of-19 shooting and added 10 rebounds and five assists. Earlier in the week, she scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds in a 71-56 win against Southern Arkansas
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Francisco Hukill, Southern Nazarene, G, Jr., Tecumseh, Oklahoma
Hukill helped the Crimson Storm push their win streak to four as he averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Against Arkansas-Monticello, he scored 17 points as SNU scored a season-high 94 points. Two days later, he helped lead a win against the second-place Southern Arkansas as he scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
