GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (4/22/15)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the penultimate week of the 2015 softball season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Sydney Kramer captured the Player of the Week honor and Henderson State’s Ashlyn White claimed the Pitcher of the Week award.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sydney Kramer, Southeastern Oklahoma State, 3B, Jr., Arlington, Texas
Kramer helped to Savage Storm go 6-0 as she hit .458 with at least one hit in all six victories. She collected three hits in both wins against Northeastern State. She added a third multi-hit game in the series finale against Southwestern Oklahoma State. For the week, she scored nine runs and drove in 10 with a home run and four doubles.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Ashlyn White, Henderson State, RHP, So., Longview, Texas
White earned three wins in the Reddies’ critical series against Arkansas Tech, the No. 2 ranked team in last week’s Central Region rankings. In her first start, she won 10-1 and faced just one batter above the minimum. After picking up a win in relief, she finished with five strikeouts in a 2-1 victory. For the week, she struck out 13 batters and did not walk a batter.
NOTABLE PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Ashton Atwell, Jr., RF, Southern Arkansas (Homered and drove in six runs as SAU took three of four vs Southern Nazarene)
- Shanna Davidson, Sr., UTL, Arkansas Tech (Posted a .923 slugging percentage and hit .385)
- Marley Edwards, So., 1B, Harding (Hit .500 with four runs scored; stole a base and slugged .917 as HU won three of four)
- Holly Wilmarth, Jr., CF, Arkansas-Monticello (Went 10-for-16 with three home runs and seven RBI vs HSU and Delta State)
NOTABLE PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Amber Rollins, Sr., RHP, Harding (Went 1-1 with a save vs OBU; allowed just one earned run in 14.0 IP; struck out nine)
- Jessica Seay, Jr., RHP, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Went 2-0 with a save; allowed five earned runs in 20.2 IP)
- Morgan Vaughan, Fr., RHP, Arkansas Tech (Posted a 1-1 record with a 3.34 ERA)
- Abby Weaver, Fr., RHP, Southern Arkansas (Threw 7.2 scoreless innings vs SNU; held Crimson Storm to a .148 average)
