GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (1/11/16)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the ninth week of the 2015-16 season. Harding’s Jacob Gibson earned the men’s honor while Oklahoma Baptist’s Tasha Edge and Henderson State’s Dulincia Keener shared the women’s award.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Gibson, Harding, F, Sr., Jonesboro, Arkansas
Gibson led Harding to its first-ever road sweep of East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma as he reached the 20-point mark in both victories. He set a career high with six assists against the Savage Storm and tied a career high with four steals at East Central. He went 10-of-16 from the 3-point arc to move into second place in career 3-pointers made at Harding with 161.
GAC CO-WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Tasha Edge, Oklahoma Baptist, F, So., Aurora, Colorado
Edge, who came into the week averaging 3.8 points per game, averaged 15.3 to lead the Bison to a 3-0 week, including two GAC wins against schools - Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello - that entered the games with one conference loss each. She registered her first double-double of the season – 18 points and 10 rebounds – against the Blossoms.
GAC CO-WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dulincia Keener, Henderson State, F, Sr., Texarkana, Arkansas
After scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds against Southwestern Oklahoma State, she set a GAC and HSU record with 45 points against Northwestern Oklahoma State. She also grabbed 13 rebounds in the win. She broke the GAC record held by former Reddie Jasmine Settles, who scored 44 points against Arkansas Tech in the 2015 GAC Championships.

- Marquis Yates, Jr., G, Arkansas Tech (Scored 22 points in a win against Southeastern and 26 at East Central)
