GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (1/18/16)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the 10th week of the 2015-16 season. Arkansas Tech’s Fatima Adams won the women’s honor and Southern Nazarene’s C.J. Rodriguez picked up the men’s award.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Fatima Adams, Arkansas Tech, F, Sr., Bryan, Texas
Adams opened her week by tallying her fifth double-double of the season - 23 points and 15 rebounds – as No. 22 Arkansas Tech collected its first 20-point win at Ouachita since 1994. She followed up that performance by scoring 16 points, on 7-of-9 shooting, and grabbing eight rebounds in a 91-73 win against a Southern Arkansas team that entered the contest at 9-2.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – C.J. Rodriguez, Southern Nazarene, G, Sr., Killeen, Texas
Rodriguez, the conference’s top scorer in GAC games, extended his streak of 20-point games to four as he poured in 24 in a 20-point win against Northwestern Oklahoma State and followed up with 23 in an 82-77 victory against Southwestern Oklahoma State. He went 14-for-25 from the floor, including 9-of-15 from the 3-point arc.
 
NOTABLE WOMEN’S NOMINEES
- Aalyiah Blakely, So., F, East Central (Tallied a career-high 17 pts vs SWOSU and a career-best nine rebs vs Oklahoma Baptist)
- Jordan Goforth, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Became first GAC player to score 1,500 points in a career; totaled 27 vs HSU)
- Jade Jones, So., G, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Scored 1st double-double vs SNU; helped SWOSU extend win streak to 8)
- Taylor Richards, Sr., G, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Averaged 13.0 points. 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals)
 
NOTABLE MEN’S NOMINEES
- Vicktor Arnick, Jr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Scored career-high 24 points and added seven rebounds in a win against HSU)
- Jaron Davis, Sr., G, Southern Arkansas (Helped SAU go 2-0 for the second-straight week; earned first win at ATU since 2007) - - Ishmael Donzo, Jr., F, East Central (Averaged a double-double – 11.0 PPG and 10.5 RPG – vs SWOSU and Oklahoma Baptist)
- Kaylon Tappin, So., G, Henderson State (Tallied career-high 32 points with four 3-pointers against Arkansas-Monticello)
- Marquis Yates, Jr., G, Arkansas Tech (Extended streak of 20-point games vs GAC opponents to five; averaged 20.5 PPG)
