GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (1/26/16)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the 11th week of the 2015-16 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Martell Collins claimed the men’s honor while Arkansas Tech’s Fatima Adams and East Central’s Jalyn Jackson shared the women’s accolade.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Martell Collins, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, Sr., Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Collins averaged 26.3 points and scored at least 23 points in each game. He led the Bulldogs to three straight wins, which came right after a four-game losing streak. He shot 51 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range for the week. After scoring a career-high 27 points vs Southeastern Oklahoma State, he topped that total with 29 vs Oklahoma Baptist.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Fatima Adams, Arkansas Tech, F, Sr., Bryan, Texas
Adams earned a Player of the Week nod for the second-straight week as she averaged 24.0 points and 10.7 rebounds in three dominating wins for No. 20 Arkansas Tech. She opened with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Harding. She followed up with 31 points and 14 rebounds against Henderson State and finished with 20 points and eight rebounds against Ouachita.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jalyn Jackson, East Central, F, Jr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Jackson produced three-straight double-doubles, as the Tigers, who entered the week 3-9, picked up three wins. Prior to this week, she had averaged 5.3 PPG and 6.7 RPG on 43.8 percent shooting. In the three games, she averaged 13.0 PPG, 11.7 RPG and made 17-of-26 shots. She hit the game-winning basket and tallied six steals against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

- Alvin Braddock, Sr., F, Southern Arkansas (As a reserve, he led the team in scoring at 15.7 PPG, went 21-of-28 from the field)
- Andre Brown, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Career-high 20 points 16 rebounds vs Ouachita; has four straight double-doubles)
- Tirrell Brown, Sr., F, Ouachita (Helped Tigers extend win streak to seven; averaged 21.3 points on 57.4 percent shooting)
- Jacob Gibson, Sr., G, East Central (Went 21-for-42 from the field and 12-of-25 from the 3-point arc; scored 19.7 PPG)
- Andrew Guilory, Sr., G, Arkansas Tech (Averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor)
- Adrian Motley, Jr., F, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Averaged nearly a double-double – 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds)

- Rosa Bryant, Sr., F, Southern Arkansas (Averaged 19.6 points and 13.6 rebounds in helping Southern Arkansas to a 2-1 week)
