EAST CENTRAL WINS FIFTH GAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TITLE

 ­RESULTS || DURANT, Oklahoma – East Central won its fifth Great American Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship title, and third straight, as the Tigers placed four inside the top eight to win the six-team event by 21 points at Silverado on Saturday.
 
Kevin Matthews led the Tigers as he won the individual competition with a time of 24:51.17. He became the fourth Tiger in six years to claim the individual title. He winning time ranked as the third fastest in the six-year history of the GAC and as the sixth-fastest overall time in event history. Cole Montgomery placed fourth, followed by Adrian Guevara in fifth and Richard Mora in seventh. Larry Filer rounded out the ECU top five as he came home in 12th.
 
Harding finished in second to ECU for the fifth time. Lawson Belcher and Camden Barrett recorded top-10 finishes.
 
Southern Arkansas took third for the sixth-straight GAC Championships and Southern Nazarene came in fourth. The Muleriders’ Doug Palmer came in second, less than one second in back of Matthews, in the closest 1-2 finish in GAC history. Jose Guevara placed 10th for SAU. Christopher Ebert paced SNU with a seventh-place finish.
 
Northwestern Oklahoma State edged out Arkansas-Monticello by four points to finish fifth. Freshman Seth Maston led the Rangers and Martavius Johnson crossed the line first for the Weevils.
 
Oklahoma Baptist's men ran as unattached individuals. Jacob Janzen paced the Bison with a third-place finish.
