GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/16/16)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the third week of the 2016 softball season. Harding’s Kimmy Hendricks and Southern Nazarene’s Katelyn Brown received the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kimmy Hendricks, Harding, C, Jr., Gilmer, Texas
Hendricks led Harding to four big non-conference wins last week, as she finished with two grand slams and 10 RBI during the course of Harding’s four wins in Bentonville at the UAM 8-State Classic. Hendricks would go 2-for-2 with two runs and five RBI in the first game of the tournament. Hendricks also maintained a .917 slugging percentage last week and tallied 11 total bases.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Katelyn Brown, Southern Nazarene, P/INF, So., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Brown tossed two complete game shutouts in 12.0 combined innings pitched. Brown managed to pitch a six strikeout, no-hitter against Southwest Baptist on Saturday evening. Brown finished with two RBI and led Southern Nazarene to two big non-conference wins. Opponents hit .026 off of Brown, having just one hit against her all week.

- Destiny Crumpley, Fr., UTL, Arkansas Tech (Had a pinch-hit home run in 8-2 win vs. Missouri Western)
- Brooke Goad, R-So., OF, Southern Arkansas (Slugged 2.333; finished with three homers with a .889 on-base %)
- Sarah Johnson, So., C/1B, Ouachita (Batted .308 with three runs, three RBI, two doubles, and one home run)
- Alexia Lopez, Jr., 1B, Henderson State (Finished with three homers and 1.167 slugging pct; led HSU to 3-1 record last week)
- Lauren Reeves, Sr., IF, East Central (Went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI and a two-run homer vs. #7 Missouri-St. Louis)
- Keeshia Thompson, Fr., CF, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Finished 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI vs. Missouri-St. Louis)
- Sydni Toilolo, Jr., 3B/DP, Southern Nazarene (Hit a three-run home run in 9-0 win vs. Southwest Baptist)
- Holly Wilmarth, Sr., CF, Arkansas-Monticello (Went 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a two-run homer vs. Central Missouri)
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Kendra Coleman, Jr., P, Arkansas-Monticello (Pitched two complete games; went 2-0 with 16 strikeouts)
- Kelly Beth Ernest, Fr., P, Harding (Gave up just three hits in 7.1 innings pitched with one save; also had six strikeouts)
- Kaylee Garner, Jr., RHP, Southern Arkansas (Gave up two hits on 4.0 innings pitched in 13-0 win over Fort Hays State)
- Jalissa Gum, Jr., P, Arkansas Tech (Went 2-0 with one complete game pitched; gave up just two hits)
- Macy Nantz, Jr., P, Ouachita (Went 2-0 with 15.0 innings pitched; also finished with nine strikeouts)
- Amanda Peterson, So., P, Oklahoma Baptist (Took a no-hitter into the 6th inning vs. Friends; went 1-0)
- Michelle Sorensen, So., P, Henderson State (Struck out 21 batters in 20 innings of work; went 3-1)
