GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/22/16)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the 15th week of the 2015-16 season. East Central’s Ishmael Donzo and Harding’s Jacob Gibson shared the men’s honor while Arkansas Tech’s Fatima Adams garnered the women’s award.
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ishmael Donzo, East Central, F, Jr., Austin, Texas
Donzo helped the Tigers push their winning streak to eight as he averaged 18.7 points and 13.0 rebounds against Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State. He recorded double-doubles in all three wins, highlighted by setting career highs of 22 points and 17 rebounds vs the Rangers. He went 23-for-35 from the field.
MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Gibson, Harding, G, Sr., Jonesboro, Arkansas
Gibson became the most prolific 3-point shooter in Harding and GAC history as he hit 16 in three Bison wins. He tallied 18 points against both Arkansas Tech and Southern Arkansas before exploding for 31 against Henderson State. He scored 17 of Harding’s first 19 points and he finished with eight 3-pointers in the win, one off his own school record.
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Fatima Adams, Arkansas Tech, F, Sr., Bryan, Texas
Adams helped the Golden Suns claim the outright GAC regular-season title as she averaged 30.5 points and 12.0 rebounds against Harding and Henderson State. In the double-overtime thriller with the Lady Bisons, she went for 33 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks. In the 82-54 win against the Reddies, she hit 11-of-15 shots en route to scoring 28 points.

- Tirrell Brown, Sr., F, Ouachita (Hit 24-of-34 shots in scoring 19.0 points per game; grabbed 6.3 rebounds per game)
- Martell Collins, Sr., F, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Recorded 20-point games vs Southeastern and Oklahoma Baptist)
- Andrew Guillory, Jr., G, Arkansas Tech (Led Tech to 2-1 week; averaged 21.0 PPG and 6.3 RPG; made 25-of-47 from the floor)
- Deshon Portley, Jr., G, Southern Nazarene (Scored a career-high 20 vs Oklahoma Baptist; had a career-high eight assists vs ECU)

- Arielle Cooper, Sr., F, Oklahoma Baptist (Helped Bison go 3-0; averaged 16.7 PPG, 7.7 RPG; hit game-tying shot vs SWOSU)
- Jordan Goforth, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Moved into fifth place on the UAM scoring list with 1,749 points)
- Jalyn Jackson, Jr., F, East Central (Recorded two double-doubles, including one with a career-best 21 rebounds against SNU)
- Dulincia Keener, Sr., F, Henderson State (Averaged 17.7 PPG and 6.7 RPG; totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds vs Harding)
