GAC SOFTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/23/16)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the fourth week of the 2016 softball season. Henderson State’s Ashlyn White and Southern Arkansas’ Kimmy Beasley received the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively.
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashlyn White, Henderson State, DH/P, Jr., Longview, Texas
White slugged three home runs and collected 11 RBI in the Reddies four-game series with Harding. White hit .727 on the week, posted a 1.545 slugging percentage and amassed seven runs scored and 17 total bases. On Saturday alone, White collected five hits, two home runs and eight RBI - six of which came in the series finale.
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Kimmy Beasley, Southern Arkansas, LHP, Sr., Foreman, Arkansas
Beasley tossed two complete game shutouts last weekend in wins against Oklahoma Baptist to open up conference play as she improved to 6-0 on the season. The senior from Foreman, Arkansas allowed just seven hits in 14.0 innings of work. She struck out 13 batters and held the opposition to a .156 batting average.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Kinsey Beck, Sr., 2B, Harding (Went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in 10-4 win at Henderson State)
- Taylor Davis, Sr., UT, East Central (Scored five times vs SWOSU and posted a .438 average)
- Taya Haney, Jr., P/INF, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Went 7-for-14 with a grand slam against East Central)
- Darian Harris, Sr., 1B, Southern Arkansas (Collected seven RBI and hit .444 in a four game sweep of Oklahoma Baptist)
- Jordan Haya, Sr., OF/SS, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Finished with three doubles, five RBI and one homer on the week)
- Janie Knowles, So., C, Arkansas Tech (Collected six hits and hit .500 as Golden Suns swept Ouachita)
- Jessica Simmons, Sr., 2B, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Scored 10 runs and stole six bases in series sweep of NWOSU)
PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Kelsie Barker, Sr., P, Arkansas Tech (Pitched a complete game with four hits, six strikeouts in 8-1 win vs Ouachita)
- Kelly Beth Ernest, Fr., P, Harding (Picked up two wins against Henderson State)
- Emily Cudd, Fr., P, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Threw complete game, four-hitter in 9-1 win against NWOSU)
- Kendra Coleman, Jr., P, Arkansas-Monticello (Threw two complete games; struck out 10 batters in 14.0 innings pitched)
- Sydney Dow, Jr., P, East Central (Earned her first win in her first appearance; also had two RBI)
