GAC BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (2/29/16)

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the final week of the 2015-16 season. Hendeson State’s Dulincia Keener and Arkansas-Monticello’s Nikki Mullen split the women’s award while the Reddies’ Kaylon Tappin claimed the men’s honor.
 
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dulincia Keener, Henderson State, F, Sr., Texarkana, Arkansas
Keener closed out the regular season with double doubles in wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. She tallied 25 points and 12 rebounds against SWOSU and came back to total 27 points and 12 rebounds against the Rangers. She became became the 10th player in HSU History to record 500 points in a single season.
 
GAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Nikki Mullen, Arkansas-Monticello, G, Sr., Green Forest, Arkansas
Mullen turned in an all-around week as she averaged 25.5 points, 7.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the field, and from the 3-point arc, in leading UAM to wins against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist. In the final home game of her career, she tallied a career-high 30 points and hit eight 3-pointers in an 83-62 win against the Bison.
 
GAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Kaylon Tappin, Henderson State, G, So., Little Rock, Arkansas
Tappin led the Reddies to back-to-back GAC wins for the first time this season as he averaged 18.5 points on 53.6 percent shooting in victories against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State. He connected on 6-of-10 from the floor against the Bulldogs and followed up with 25 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks against the Rangers.

- Fatima Adams, Sr., F, Arkansas Tech (Finished her senior season by averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in two wins)
- Kamera Bozeman, Jr., F, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Made 19-of-23 shots and averaged 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks)
- Shana Holmes, Sr., G, Southern Arkansas (Shot 68.8 percent from the floor including 63.6 percent from the 3-point arc)
- Sydney Layrock, So., F, Harding (Averaged 22.0 points in wins against East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State)
- Whitney Stotler, Jr., F, East Central (Made 6-of-8 shots and averaged 11.0 points per game)

- Deon Andrews, Sr., G, Southern Arkansas (Shot 40.0 percent from the 3-point arc and averaged 14.0 points in two wins)
- Andre Brown, Sr., F, Arkansas-Monticello (Tallied Career-highs in points (23) and rebounds (17) against Oklahoma Baptist)
- Tirrell Brown, Sr., F, Ouachita (Connected on 20-of-32 shots and averaged 24.0 points per game)
- Jacob Gibson, Sr., G, Harding (Made 9-of-17 3-pointers in two wins to help Harding clinch a share of the regular-season title)
- Andrew Guillory, Sr., G, Arkansas Tech (Averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds vs Southeastern Oklahoma State and ECU)
- Adrian Motley, Jr., F, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Averaged a double-double against Ouachita and Henderson State)
