The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the eighth week of the 2016 softball season. Henderson State’s Ashlyn White and Southern Arkansas’ Brooke Goad shared the Player of the Week awards, while Arkansas Tech’s Jalissa Gum received the Pitcher of the Week award.

 RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the eighth week of the 2016 softball season. Henderson State’s Ashlyn White and Southern Arkansas’ Brooke Goad shared the Player of the Week awards, while Arkansas Tech’s Jalissa Gum received the Pitcher of the Week award.
 
GAC SOFTBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brooke Goad, Southern Arkansas, OF, So., Waxahachie, Texas
Goad slugged 2.125 during the three-game sweep of Ouachita in Arkadelphia. The Waxahachie, Texas native had eight runs, four RBI, and belted three homers. Goad hit .750 on the week with an on-base percentage of .846. Five of Goad’s six hits went for extra bases.
 
GAC SOFTBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashlyn White, Henderson State, DP/P, Jr., Longview, Texas
White hit a perfect 1.000 (6-for-6) as the Reddies swept Arkansas-Monticello. The Longview, Texas native slugged 2.5000 with 11 RBI and three home runs. White scored six runs and she reached base all 14 of her plate appearances.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jalissa Gum, Arkansas Tech, RHP, Jr., Red Rock, Oklahoma
Gum went 2-0 on the weekend as the Golden Suns completed a four-game sweep against East Central. The Red Rock, Oklahoma native threw 13.0 innings, struck out 19 batters, and posted a 0.69 ERA for the weekend as she improved to 9-0 on the season.

- Sarah Coronado, Fr., SS, Arkansas Tech (Hit .615 with a team-high eight hits and four RBI against ECU)
- Tori Hawk, Jr., OF, Southwestern Oklahoma State (Batted .455 with six RBI and four stolen bases)
- Kimmy Hendricks, Jr., C, Harding (Slugged 1.067; homered twice and drove in nine vs Southeastern)
- Destiny Riddle, Fr., 1B, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Batted .500 with five RBI and one double)
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
- Kimmy Beasley, Sr., LHP, Southern Arkansas (Struck out 15 in 10.0 IP; improved to 13-0 on the year)
- Hannah Johnson, Jr., RHP, Harding (Allowed two runs and threw two complete games)
- Karly Murray, Fr., RHP, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Struck out 11 in 10.2 innings of work)
-  Bailee Saye, So., RHP, Oklahoma Baptist (Threw a complete-game, four-hitter against NWOSU)
