Tweet #theGAC  RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s Players of the Week for the 11th week of the 2016 softball season. Henderson State’s Ashlyn White took home her third Player of the Week award on the year, while Arkansas Tech’s Jalissa Gum garnered the Pitcher of the Week accolade for the second time this season.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashlyn White, Henderson State, RHP/UTL, Jr., Longview, Texas
White’s three-home-run and six-RBI performance helped Henderson State take three of four from Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Longview, Texas native slugged 1.385 with five runs against the Rangers. White tied HSU’s single-season home run record with her 15th home run on the year.
 
GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jalissa Gum, Arkansas Tech, RHP/UTL, Jr., Red Rock, Oklahoma
Gum’s back-to-back complete-game shutout performances vs No. 23 Southern Arkansas gave the senior right-hander her fourth total GAC individual accolade of the year. The Red Rock, Oklahoma native limited the nation’s 12th-best offense to just three hits combined. Gum struck out 24 SAU batters as well.

- Madison McGraw, So., OF, Northwestern Oklahoma State (Produced five doubles against HSU; hit .500)
- Corbi Parasich, So., 2B, Oklahoma Baptist (Batted in seven runs; scored four times; batted .444)
- Kali Piha, Sr., LF, Arkansas-Monticello (Produced a .476 batting average; recorded nine RBIs)
- Autumn Suydam, Sr., OF, East Central (Slugged .714 with six runs and five RBIs; three stolen base)
- Keeshia Thompson, Fr., LF, Southeastern Oklahoma State (Hit three homers in series vs Oklahoma Baptist)

- Marissa Shaffer, Sr., RHP, East Central (Registered 1.75 ERA versus SNU; struck out nine batters)
- Michelle Sorensen, So., RHP, Henderson State (Tossed two complete games; struck out 23 in 16 IP)
- Kayla Wyatt, Sr., RHP, Southern Nazarene (Broke the single-game GAC record with 20 strikeouts vs ECU)
