SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE TAKES HOME FIRST GAC WOMEN’S TENNIS TITLE

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Southeastern Oklahoma State captured the first GAC Women's Tennis Tournament title in program history with a 5-0 victory over second-seeded Arkansas Tech.
Top-seeded Southeastern burst to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The Storm received decisive victories at #2 and #3 doubles to strike first.
The pairing of Anna Buiukan and Franzi Richtsfeld struck first with an 8-0 blanking of Camila Roca and Laura Sanchez at #2 doubles. Conchi Assiego and Paula Martinez added the next SE point just minutes later with an 8-2 triumph against Annabel Rowlands and Teresa Sanchez at #3 doubles.
Sandra Reljic and Darija Catipovic used a late break of serve to complete the Savage Storm doubles sweep as they edged ATU's Macarena Acosta and Tamara Bell 8-6 in the #1 pairing.
Richtsfeld put Southeastern on the edge of victory with the fourth point, winning 6-2, 6-1 at #5 singles versus Roca. Catipovic put the Savage Storm over the top and clinched the shutout by downing Sanchez 7-5, 6-3 at #3 singles.
The Savage Storm completed the season sweep of Arkansas Tech to improve to 13-3. SE downed ATU 6-3 at home on April 8 during the squads' regular season matchup. The Golden Suns end their campaign at 11-13.
Southeastern, which has not lost since a March 4 setback to No. 12 St. Mary's, advances to the NCAA Central Regional. Pairings for the May 7-10 regional tournament will be announced Tuesday, May 3 on NCAA.com.
