TECH SWEEPS SOUTHEASTERN AT GAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

 HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Top-seeded Arkansas Tech improved to 33-0 at it recorded a straight-sets win against Southeastern Oklahoma State in Thursday’s third Great American Conference Volleyball Championships quarterfinal contest. GAC Freshman of the Year Lexie Johnston tallied a match-high 12 kills and hit .522. Amanda Milnick, the Player and Setter of the Year, totaled 37 assists.

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
The Golden Suns opened with a 25-21 win in the first set. Leading 11-10, Tech scored seven of the next eight points to take control of the set. Johnston hit .714 with five kills against no errors. They registered 19 kills in the set and hit .325. Milnick dished out 13 kills and added three kills plus an ace. Baker and Jameson kept the Savage Storm in the set as they combined for nine kills and they hit .500.
 
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
Tech took the second set, 25-18, by committing only two errors and hitting .448. Down 4-3, the Golden Suns won seven of the next eight points. The Savage Storm never drew closer than four points the rest of the set. Johnston and Rogers notched eight kills, did not commit an error, and hit .571. Taylor Robinson and Jameson each picked up four kills.
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
Arkansas Tech closed out the match with a 25-18 victory in the third set. After surrendering the opening point of the set, Tech did not trail the rest of the match. The Golden Suns produced its strongest defensive set of the match as they limited the Savage Storm to a .032 attack percentage. Anderson netted seven of their 13 kills and hit .778.
 
NOTABLE:
  •  Arkansas Tech improved to 9-1 against Southeastern Oklahoma State since the formation of the GAC.
