PHOTO GALLERY || BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Arkansas Tech dominated the fourth quarter against Ouachita and rallied past the Tigers, 69-57, in the opening Great American Conference Women’s Basketball Quarterfinal contest on Thursday from the Bruin Fieldhouse.
The Golden Suns (21-6) entered the fourth quarter down by six points, but outscsored the Tigers (12-17) 24-6 to advance to the semifinal for the fifth consecutive year.
Five Golden Sun players reached double figures in scoring, paced by 15 points from First-Team All-GAC performer Anissa Pounds, who added six rebounds and six assists. Kelsey McClure totaled 14 points and seven rebounds. Danielle Frachiseur scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half and Cheyenne Norht added 13 points and four blocks. Calli White provided 10 points off the bench.
Katie Kapler led Ouachita with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Arkansas Tech, the No. 7 team in the recent NCAA Division II Central Region rankings will take on the winner of Friday’s Southwestern Oklahoma State-Southern Nazarene game in Saturday’s second women’s semifinal, set for 2:15 PM on GACSportsNetwork.com. The Lady Bulldogs won both regular-season contests, while the Golden Suns swept the Crimson Storm.
