RESULTS || HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Arkansas Tech captured its third-straight Great American Conference Women’s Golf Championships as the Golden Suns held off Henderson State and Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday at the Park Course from Hot Springs Country Club. The Lady Bulldogs Elin Wahlin captured the individual medalist honor.
The Golden Suns posted the low round of the day, a 22-over 310, to finish four shots ahead of the Reddies and nine clear of the Lady Bulldogs. Caroline Fredensborg posted the best round of Tuesday, an even-par 72 to finish in second place. Pia Nunbhakdi carded an 80 to finish in fourth place to secure All-Tournament honors for the second time in as many years. Avery Struck finished in a tie for seventh.
Sarah Wright led the Reddies as her third-round 78 left her in third place. Taylor Loeb joined Wright on All-Tournament team as she tied for fifth. Luisa Gartmann tied for seventh and Hanna Brauburger finished ninth.
Wahlin posted a final round 2-over 74 to finish with a three-day score of 2-over 218, the second-lowest tournament score in the six-year history of the conference. Gloria Choi, the GAC Player of the Year, garnered her second All-Tournament honor as she shared fifth.
UAM moved up one position to finish in fourth, the best GAC Championship finish for the Blossoms. Lauren Johnson bettered her score for the second-straight day as she shot a 3-over 75 that left her in 10th place.
Southern Arkansas and Northwestern Oklahoma State tied for fifth. The Rangers’ Brittani Casement matched the best finish at the GAC Championships in team history as she finished 12th. Bailey Carr paced the Lady Muleriders by tying for 19th.
Southern Nazarene and Harding rounded out the team competition. Oklahoma Baptist’s five golfers competed as individuals. Elly Baze registered a 2-over 74 to move up to a tie for 10th place. Michelle Carr shared 13th and Emma Williams moved up to a tie for 15th.
