FOURTH-QUARTER RALLY SENDS ARKANSAS TECH TO GAC TITLE GAME

 BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Trailing entering the fourth quarter of its Great American Conference Women’s Basketball Championship semifinal contest with Henderson State, Arkansas Tech outscored the Reddies by 13 points to pull out a 78-67 win on Saturday from Bruin Fieldhouse.
 
The Golden Suns (25-3) scored 15 of the first 18 points of the final quarter to fend off the Reddies (21-9). Cheyenne North scored nine of her career-high 35 points as part of that stretch. North finished by converting 14-of-20 from the field. She grabbed 11 rebounds to register her eighth double-double. She also led the team with five assists, five steals, and four blocks.
 
Arkansas Tech advanced to its fourth straight GAC Championship final and its fifth in the last six years. The Golden Suns and Harding share the top winning percentage at the GAC Championships at .778.
 
Henderson State, playing in its first conference tournament semifinal game since 2006, had utilized a 19-4 run in the middle of the third quarter that gave the Reddies a six-point lead late in the third quarter. Blu Jones led four Reddies who reached double figures with 17 points. Haleigh Henson and Pink Jones each finished with 13 points. Jones added seven assists and six rebounds.
 
Arkansas Tech will face Harding at 3:30 PM on Sunday. The two have met in three of the previous four GAC Championships, including the title games in 2015 and 2017. The Lady Bisons have won all three meetings in Bartlesville. During the regular season, Arkansas Tech won 77-64 at Harding and 56-54 and home.
